Are you dying of boredom these days? Staring at the clock waiting for time to pass, wondering when you get to go outside again? We’ve got your back. Stay safe indoors and keep yourself busy with these awesome DESi do-it-yourself ideas you can make in 5 minutes:

1. Make a very sasta projector with a magnifying glass, a shoebox and your phone.

In these trying times, the biggest saviors for those of us sitting at home have proved to be platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime. If you’re missing going out and watching movies with your loved ones, here’s a solution for you. Why invest in an expensive projector for a movie night (which you anyway can’t get right now), when you can easily make one on your own?

All it takes is your phone, a shoebox, and that magnifying glass you’ve got lying around somewhere from your childhood. Alternatively, just use a plain ol’ light bulb.

2. Amateur artist? Stamp your frustration away.

This lockdown is a great time to try your regularly washed or sanitized hands at new things - like art! Get down and dirty with those paints. And if, like us, you can’t paint better than a five-year-old, make gorgeous designs with DIY eraser stamps. Simply carve an eraser of any size using a knife, dunk it in paint, and you’re ready to go.

3. Can’t remember what day it is? Write it on your DIY erasable board.

Admit it - the days are blending into each other. We don’t know when Wednesday ends and Thursday starts. But combat this business of forgetting with your own super cute dry erase board. All you need for this project is a photo frame and some paper or fabric you’d like to use as a backdrop. Pop your paper in and voila! Your board is ready to go.

4. Got plants? We certainly hope so.

You can save a lot of money on expensive pots and planters, and at the same time make yourself busy (only for a few minutes, we promise) with this next DIY craft. All you need is some cardboard, faux metal or plastic container, copper contact paper and, goes without saying, a plant.

Alternatively, there are like 35 other ways to do this. Get creative!

5. DIY Mason Jar Soap/Sanitizer Dispenser

Soap and sanitizer are in plenty use now. Why not make cleaning your hands a little more fun? Using a glass jar, a screw (or anything you can make a hole with) and a soap pump from any plastic soap/sanitizer dispenser, you can make your own dispenser in less than 5 minutes!

6. Got a plain white tee?

There are a hundred things you can do with a plain white tee, but we’ll pick our favourite DIY project. A plain tee becomes exponentially better with a cute pocket. Here’s how you can change a simple t-shirt in a few easy steps. All you’ll need is some cute fabric of your choice, scissors, t-shirt, pins, and very basic sewing skills.

7. Colour-code your keys!

Okay, this may be by far the nerdiest idea we’ve had yet. But nonetheless, it’s bound to make your life easier! With a few minutes of your life and a little nail polish, you can finally bid farewell to the days of fumbling over your keys, trying to find the right one.
