Do you know how you always craved for “when I would get some time, I would do this and that and all…”?
Well! Now you have the time.
And we know it’s a dreary situation and we cannot go out. And are hella bored. But, we are not here for that.
Here’s listing 7 super-nostalgic, super-amazing ‘indoor’ games that you always enjoyed playing.
Let’s open up the lost pages of childhood and get lost in nostalgia once again…
1. Ludo (5-6 players)
The eternal game of Ludo tops our list. And why not? This is the G.O.A.T of the Indian gaming universe. Moving on from the online Ludo, you can now play 5-6 player Ludo too. And as it goes, you make your own rules! 😉
2. DESi Table Tennis
Hey! We all have played this, don’t lie now. All we need is 2 notebooks, a ball (or crumpled paper), some glasses (to make mid-line) and a table. And there we go! Be it school or those rainy days at home… whether we were pro or amateurs, we all have played this. Rekindle that nostalgia, and get the ball rolling 🎾
3. Chess
This one’s for those intellectuals, Vishwanathan-Anand-kinds. Lay down the checkered board, and a serious look on the face. And if you wanna make it more professional, include a timer. Loved by the kids and elders alike, open up that dusky chess board and exercise your mind muscle. And remember, teda-Ghoda always makes or breaks the game. ♟
4. Snakes and Ladders
“Damn, that six never comes.” Or “Do we get an extra chance for the ladder?” … We all have our memories attached to this never-ending loop game. But, man, it was fun! And now when we have all the time on our hands, take out that board and get playing. You can even keep a fine (like, chocolate) every time a snake bites your pawn 🐍
5. Chaupat
Remember Shakuni Mama from Mahabharata? And his cunning grin while rubbing those dies in which the Pandavas lost everything they had, which basically started Mahabharata? That was the Chaupat game. Well! That era is long gone, but the game remains. Gather 4 members of the family, or 2, and get the dice rolling like our ol’ Shakuni mama. Do we hear that creepy “Bhanje” intonation?
6. Carrom
Those sultry summer vacations, one carrom boards and the whole gang watched that tough battle for the cover shot… Super-nostalgic! Carrom is our personal favourite. Because we can never predict how the striker might spin. And one can not love carrom. (We don’t even wanna know if you don’t, because
everyone loves carrom!) So, sprinkle that talcum powder, set those disks and get, set, strike! Carrom ramvanu, juice peevanu, majja ni life! 😌
7. Playing Cards
We have lost count of the number of games we can play with these cards: solo, duo or in a group. Rummy, teen-Patti, court, mindi, poker, solitaire, or just the plain old “one who draws the same number gets all the cards”. Take out that stash of cards, and invent a new game. Bet something, or just play it for fun, cards are the best time pass - in the train, picnic, or now, at home. And, don’t forget UNO! 🃏
